Our Programmes

Our FOcus AReas

Educate for Africa looks at education in its broadest sense. No person can learn unless their physical, social, and emotional needs are also met. Further, good governance, safety, and a sense of community are key for impactful learning. Therefore Educate for Africa focuses on holistic education, as well as governance, health and wellbeing, gender quality and environmental protection and conservation.

Science CentraL

Science Central is a project under the community outreach umbrella of the Combretum Education Trust. It is an after school program that offers practical demonstrations in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry to learners in primary and secondary school. It caters specifically to learners from schools in underprivileged areas.

The sessions are conducted in a brand new laboratory that was previously an old shipping container, it was converted into a lab with funding from the Association of Diplomatic Spouses (ADS) and with support from Educate for Africa. The overarching aim of Science central is to help the learners by strengthening the foundation of the primary school learners to allow them to unlock their potential once in secondary school, and helping the secondary school learners fully grasp the theoretical concepts learned in class by doing practical work.

Mental Health and Well-being

Educate for Africa is working to support mental health and wellbeing of learners in our partner organisations. COVID-19 has a serious impact on learner wellbeing and EforA is working to provide psychosocial support to learners as well as the development of coping skills and peer-to-peer support mechanisms. Through a mixture of life skills, coping skills through sports, group counselling sessions and one-on-one therapy sessions we are supporting teenagers and their mental health and wellbeing.

Educate for Africa is working to scale this programme up to additional schools and learners in need of psychosocial support.

Early Childhood development

The period from conception to school going age is a period of rapid development in a child’s life. Ensuring that children have nurturing care, safety, good health and nutrition and opportunities for early learning and play gives them the best start in life and a foundation for lifelong health and learning. Educate for Africa is working with ECD NGOs in Namibia to improve the quality of early childhood development services, parenting and child safeguarding.
